Stampede at Maha Kumbh, casualties feared

Stampede at Mahakumbh: A stampede-like situation broke out at Mahakumbh in the wee hours of Wednesday when the massive crowds arrived at Sangam for the second ‘Amrit snan’ on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. As per the reports, around 25 people have been admitted to the hospital. As of now, there has been no confirmation of any fatalities.

Stampede at Maha Kumbh, immediate action taken by Administration 

The incident occurred at the Sangam Nose. Ambulances were quickly rushed to the location, and the injured individuals were taken to a makeshift hospital in Sector 2 of Kumbh. The official number of casualties could not be confirmed even as the administration found it difficult to manage the crowd that thronged the ghats and the Triveni Sangam on Mauni Amavasya, the day of ‘second Shahi snan’ at the Mahakumbh Mela.

Mahakumbh Stampede – PM Modi speaks to UP CM

Administration said that ambulances have been rushed to the ghat and injured persons were taken to the central hospital inside the Mela ground for treatment. Several people injured in the stampede were brought dead to the hospital, unconfirmed reports said. PM Modi spoke to UP CM Yogi Adityanath about the situation at the Maha Kumbh Mela, reviewed the developments, and called for immediate support measures.

Akhara has stopped the ‘Snan’ for the Mahamandaleshwar

Stampede-like situation broke out at Sangam when a large number of devotees arrived to take part in Mauni Snan.  In the wake of the unfavourable situation, Akhara has stopped the ‘Snan’ for the Mahamandaleshwars.
