Reliance Industries to Build World’s Largest Data Centre in Gujarat to Boost AI Capabilities

Published:

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is set to build the world’s largest data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, marking a significant leap into India’s rapidly expanding artificial intelligence (AI) sector.

According to a report by Bloomberg on January 24, the new project will strengthen India’s AI infrastructure, allowing the country to compete on a global scale with major AI players.

The extent and aspirations of the data centre are evident, despite the lack of official project specifics. The project is anticipated to be a key component of Reliance’s larger strategies to advance AI capabilities and encourage domestic innovation.

This action further cements India’s potential as a major participant in the global AI market by placing Reliance Industries at the forefront of the nation’s AI development and creating new avenues for technological developments.

Commenting on India’s AI potential at the summit, Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, stated: “It makes complete sense that India should manufacture its own AI. You should not export data to import intelligence. India should not export flour to import bread.”
