No VIP Passes and No Entry After Maha Kumbh Stampede, CM Yogi announces compensation

Following the horrific stampede at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday, which killed 30 people and injured over 60, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented important safety measures to prevent future disasters.

The stampede happened on Wednesday, on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, one of the most important days of the Kumbh Mela. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has proposed a Rs 25 lakh consolation package for families of the victims.

Stay updated on given changes:

Traffic Management:

Smooth traffic flow is a priority, with efforts to avoid unnecessary halts and crowd buildup in the Maha Kumbh Mela area.

Intensified police patrolling and clearance of key routes (Ayodhya-Prayagraj, Kanpur-Prayagraj, etc.).

All return routes from Prayagraj must remain clear.

Vehicle Entry Restrictions:

No entry of four-wheelers into Prayagraj until February 4.

Vehicles from districts bordering Prayagraj are stopped at borders.

No VIP passes will be issued.

Vendor Relocation:

Street vendors will be moved to vacant areas to prevent traffic disruption.

Devotee Movement & Amenities:

Devotees will be allowed to move based on the situation on the ground.

Adequate food and water arrangements to be provided at holding areas.

Amrit Snan:

The Amrit Snan will be organised on Basant Panchami (February 3).

In addition to these security measures, the Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a judicial inquiry to find out the cause of the stampede and to ensure the tragedy is thoroughly investigated.

The Chief Minister’s announcement of the Rs 25 lakh compensation for families of the deceased is a part of the state’s commitment to supporting them during this tragic time.
