Maharashtra: Blast at ordnance factory in Bhandara district, 8 dead

A massive explosion took place in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra this morning in which 8 people are reported dead. This explosion took place in the RK Branch section of the Ordnance Factory around 10:30 am. After the explosion, the roof of the factory collapsed and at least 12-14 people were trapped under the roof. Rescue and relief work is underway and the debris under the roof is being removed with the help of JCB.

The blast echoed up to 5 km and a lot of smoke was seen rising from the factory. Fire brigade and ambulance have reached the spot and a rescue operation is underway. Police said that fire and medical teams are there to help the people and are working to evacuate them quickly.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed sadness by posting on X, “Deeply saddened to know about the blast ot Ordnance Factory at Bhandara, Maharashtra. My condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. The rescue teams are deployed at the site. All efforts are being made to provide assistance to those who are affected”.
