Kerala: Teen Dies by Suicide due to bully, ‘Forced to lick toilet seat’

A 15-year-old Kochi student from Kerala ended his life through suicide on January 15 because he tolerated extreme bullying and ragging at school. During his mistreatment, Mihir faced multiple brutal acts such as having to lick the toilet seat as well as having his head placed in the flushing toilet. The student abuse occurred frequently inside both the school and on board the bus where students participated. Mihir’s racial background along with his physical suffering became additional factors in the emotional violence against him.

Mihir’s mother seeks justice

Through social media Rajna PM, Mihir’s mother showed the world what her son experienced at the hands of his bullies. The family of Mihir uncovered offensive messages sent by students while they collected the truth about his passing. “The fk nigga he actually died” message demonstrated how much harsh treatment Mihir needed to tolerate.

Rajna has taken two decisive actions to pursue justice for the situation by addressing the police through legal channels and using the Chief Minister’s Office to request a complete investigation. She found it disturbing that school authorities allegedly forced the deletion of the Instagram page that Mihir’s friends had set up to seek justice.
