J&K: 6 Army Personnel Injured In a Landmine Blast

On Tuesday six Indian Army personnel were injured in an accidental landmine blast which took place near the Line of Control (LoC) in a village of Jammu & Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The injured army were immediately taken to the nearby hospital for treatment and check if the injuries are deep. Fortunately the injuries are not life threatening and all the six soldiers are reported to be stable.

How did the accident happen?

According to media reports, the army troop was on patrol duty when one of the soldiers stepped on the mine close by Khamba Fort in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. According to officials, the forward areas close to the Line of Control are studded with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration barrier system, but occasionally the rains wash them away, causing these kinds of accidents.

Accident Claims Lives of Four Army Personnel

Recently, another road accident came to light, on January 4; three soldiers lost their lives in a road accident in the Bandipora area of Kashmir. The death toll from the accident now stands at four as another army passed away from his wounds. A vehicle on duty in the Bandipora district slipped and plunged down a gorge because of bad weather and limited visibility, according to an Army official.

Apart from this, the officials has began the probe into the Rajouri accident of land mine to understand the actual reason of the mine blast and to also make sure the safety of the army personnel working in such areas.
