Indian Bowler Jasprit Bumrah wins ICC Test Cricketer of the Year

India bowler Jasprit Bumrah received ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2024 honours as he took 71 wickets across 13 Test matches. Jasprit Bumrah surpassed England’s Gus Atkinson’s ICC best-wicket record among Test cricketers by securing 19 counted wickets beyond Atkinson’s 52 wickets in 11 matches. After receiving the honour Bumrah became the sixth Indian cricketer following Dravid, Ashwin, and Virat Kohli.

Bumrah’s return after long injury layoff

Bumrah had an incredible year since his return to Test cricket during the latter part of 2023 after a lengthy break. His excellent play helped India win the series against both England and Bangladesh as he produced remarkable performances at home and abroad. Bumrah made vital improvements worldwide while sporting his talent against South Africa and Australia.
