Aam Aadmi Party convene Arvind Kejriwal and his political companion Manish Sisodia stand in the face of yet another challenge just a week before Delhi assembly elections 2025. The Union home ministry has given a go ahead to the enforcement directorate or ED to prosecute the two political leaders in the Delhi liquor policy scam case. The prosecution will proceed under the anti-money laundering law of 2002.

Priyanka Kakkar, the spokesperson for Aam Aadmi Party, slammed the BJP-led Union government and said that this will be the first ever case in history where the ED will prosecute leaders who have already been granted bail by the apex court.
“… you jailed, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. Both were granted bail from the trial court and even from the Supreme Court…. After two years, you gave sanction to prosecute and this is when the elections are near. Their same old routine is to file false cases, defame the leaders of Aam Aadmi Party. But now the public has understood everything,” Priyanka Kakkar told the media.
Arvind Kejriwal, ex-chief minister of the national capital, is accused of providing undue benefits to liquor vending licensees, in February 2023. He was termed as ‘the kingpin and conspirator’ of the Delhi excise policy scam case. The case is rooted in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, after which a new policy was introduced from 2021 to 2022. This new policy allowed private firms and companies into the Delhi retail liquor sector. After this scam came into focus, the former Delhi chief minister was arrested by federal agencies in March 2023 after filing a chargesheet against Kejriwal. He was to be present before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court.
