Indian-origin Chandrika Tandon wins Grammy

Indian-American singer Chandrika Tandon won the Grammy Award for Best New Age Ambient or Chant Album for her Triveni release at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony. The Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles hosted the ceremony on February 2, 2025. The prestigious Grammy Award for Best New Age Ambient Chant Album went to Tandon together with her collaborators Wouter Kellerman playing the flute as well as Eru Matsumoto playing the cello. The win stands as a major success since Triveni surpassed the competitive albums including Break of Dawn by Ricky Kej, Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn by Anoushka Shankar, and Opus by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Tandon shares heartfelt gratitude

Tandon shared her positive feelings about winning the award when she said, “It feels amazing” in an interview. She highlighted the importance of this victory since the artists competing in the category were highly successful. Tandon spent her childhood in Chennai and currently serves as a business leader.

Tandon achieved this Grammy win among other accomplishments, in 2011 she received a nomination for her album Om Namo Narayana: Soul Call in the same field as Best Contemporary World Music Album.
