BPO Employee Stabbed to Death Over Money In A Parking Lot, In Pune

Published:

On January 7, a 28 year old BPO employee, Shubhada Shankar Kodare, was stabbed to death by one of her male colleagues, Krishna Satyanarayana Kanoja, inside the company’s parking lot. The brutal murder took place in the Yerwada area of Pune city.

The incident came to light after a disturbing video was shared on social media, which showed passers by watching as Shubhada fell on the ground after a fatal attack with a kitchen knife. The mute spectators later rushed Shubhada to the nearest hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries later in the evening.

The police have come to believe that the attack was rooted in a financial dispute between the two colleagues, both working as accountants at WNS Global Services. According to the reports published by an Indian daily newspaper, Shubhada Shankar borrowed nearly 4.5 lakh rupees from the accused, for medical treatment of her father. Before the incident, Kanoja went to speak with Shubhada’s father demanding repayment of the money he lent to her.

“As per the primary information, the suspect allegedly attacked Shubhada on her right elbow with a sharp weapon around 6 PM in the parking lot of the firm. It was found that the attack was a fallout of some dispute over money borrowing issues,” said additional commissioner of police, Manoj Patil.

Krishna Satyanarayana Kanoja is detained based on a complaint launched by the deceased woman’s sister, under sections of Bharathiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
