Lakshya Sen heartbreakingly lost in the Bronze Medal match to Malaysia’s Lee and has missed out on his first ever Olympics medal for the nation.
Lakhsya Sen heartbreakingly lost to Malaysia Lee Zii Jia in the Bronze Medal match 21-13, 16-21 and 10-21. Lakshya Sen had a campaign to remember but all that was ruined as he couldn’t hold on to his nerve of getting the job done.
Despite Lakshya Sen not winning a medal, he made the entire nation proud with his performances at Paris Olympics. However, this loss will forever sting Lakshya Sen as he missed out on his first ever Olympics medal.
Lakshya Sen misses out on creating history
Lakshya Sen looked like he was about to become the first Indian male to win a medal in Badminton at the Olympics. However, that chance to create history fell apart quickly and the dream shattered.
In the first game, Lee Zii Jia started sluggish with a lot of unforced errors and Lakshya Sen capitalised and raced to a 11-5 lead at the break. He never really looked back after that and stormed to a 21-13 win in the first game.
In the second game, Lakshya Sen raced to a 8-4 lead as he continued his march. But the Malaysian Lee was not giving up easily as he took 8 consecutive points and Sen trailed 8-12. But Sen showed great resilience to pull level and take the score to 12-12.
But from that point on Lee showed his nous and pegged Lakshya back to take Game 21-16.
The third game followed the same template and it was as if like wind was taken out of Lakshya’s sales as he plummeted to a 21-10 loss in game 3 and losing the match eventually.
